Non-fat greek yogurt, 2 tbsp chopped walnuts, sliced banana: the carbs from the yogurt and banana provide energy, but the protein from the yogurt and walnuts helps to keep insulin levels steady.

do i smell love?...or is that animosity?
Valentines Day seems to evoke two emotions: euphoria and depression, consisting of a BURNING DESIRE TO KILL EVERY HAPPY PERSON IN THE WORLD. Just kidding. Kind of.
For all of you cupid haters this year, don't sit at home alone or with your girlfriends eating pint after pint of Ben and Jerry's while watching "The Notebook," "A Walk to Remember," and "Love Actually." Instead of packing on the cals, which we all regret in the morning when we wake up with a junk food hangover, go out on a group date! Everyone gets a partner who will be their date. Buy your date a Valentines Day gift. All of the couples can then go out to dinner at a fancy restaurant together, so it's like double dating with all of your girlfriends at once. It sounds a lot like just going out to dinner with friends, but the distinction of having couples changes it up a bit, and getting a present makes you feel special!
If you are not a Valentines Day hater, congratulations. Don't just go out to dinner and accept a box of chocolates and bouquet of flowers from your significant other. Yeh, the traditional celebration is nice once in a while, but it gets boring. Make each other gift coupons (1 date to the movies, 1 back massage, etc) or plan out an adventure. Something with thought means a lot more than a box of chocolates, even if it costs $50 and is from Brazil. Skip a fancy dinner, it's going to be way too crowded to have an intimate, romantic meal and in the atmosphere of the holiday you're going to spend way too much money. Instead, snuggle up at home watching a movie or go do something fun like bowling or laser tagging.
